Fall & winter tree work in Kansas City
The cold months are the best time for a lot of tree work.
Dormant-season pruning
November through March the leaves are down, the structure is easy to read, and pruning stresses the tree least. Oaks in particular should only be pruned in dormancy because of oak wilt.
Get ahead of ice and wind
Dead, cracked or leaning trees are the first to fail in a Kansas City ice storm. Removing them before winter beats cleaning them off the roof after.
Clear roofs and lines
Cut limbs back from roofs, gutters and the house side of service drops before snow and ice load them up. For limbs on power lines, call your utility.
Easier off-season scheduling
Fall and winter are quieter than spring storm season, so it's easier to get on the schedule at a time that suits you.
Serving the Kansas City metro
We travel up to an hour from the metro, including Topeka, Lawrence and St. Joseph.
Also serving Gardner, Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Gladstone.
Questions homeowners ask
How do estimates work?+
Estimates are free. We walk the property, talk through what you need, and give you a written estimate with the scope and price laid out. Nothing starts until you approve it.
Are you licensed and insured?+
Yes. We carry liability and workers' coverage, and we're happy to send proof of coverage before the job.
Do you handle storm damage?+
Yes. We schedule storm damage response during our regular working hours, Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
What happens to the debris?+
Cleanup is included. Branches are chipped and hauled out, logs are staged or removed, and the ground is raked clean before we leave.
Do you grind the stump too?+
Stump grinding is available on any removal. Tell us when you request an estimate and we'll include it in the written scope.
How much does tree removal cost in Kansas City?+
It depends on the tree and the yard: height, trunk diameter, how easily we can get equipment in, how close it stands to the house, fences or power lines, and whether you want the stump ground too. Because every job is different, we don't quote national averages — we come out and give you a free written estimate for your specific tree.
When is the best time of year to trim or remove a tree in Kansas City?+
Late fall through winter, roughly November to March, is ideal for most trimming: the leaves are off, the structure is easy to see, and the tree is under less stress. Oaks should only be pruned while dormant because of oak wilt. Dead, leaning or storm-damaged trees should be handled whenever you notice them, and removals can be done year-round.
